Corri la Vita: my FIRST marathon

On Sunday when I came back from Rome, I ran the Corri la Vita in Florence. Unfortunately, by the time I got around to registering, they were out of shirts and numbers, but they politely informed me that I could still pay and run on the side without being registered. So, I thought for a second and decided that I could also do that for free...SO I DID.

It was such a fun experience. I was so bummed about the shirt and registration at first, but then quickly got over it because this experience was incredible. We didn't train, we didn't have water, we just DID it. Like the Nike commercials. One of the best experience of my life. We ran a 12K run, I only walked for about 30 seconds.

While blasting to my iPod running parallel to the Arno and going up into the hills of Florence to see the most spectacular views from private streets, I had another one of those moments...to my left was the beautiful view of my favorite city on the face of the planet, and to my right, was my best friend running beside me, and tons of my friends I have made through this program, all persevering in this amazing experience together.

Like I said, it had the most spectacular views of Florence, and there were over 30,000 people participating. Even though I stood out like a sore thumb and didn't have the shirt or the number, it didn't matter. I DID IT. I ran my first marathon in Florence, Italy.
