YEP. THAT HAPPENED.
I saw Michelangelo's Il Davide in the Accademia di Belle Arti today. I had to prepare myself when I entered the room where he was in. I've studied this magnificent work of art in school and I knew exactly how the room looked where he stood. As soon as I entered, I was behind a pole, I had to take a step back before I saw him to prepare myself. There are no words to describe it.
This amazing piece of art. I probably took 8 or 9 pictures and got yelled at by the art gallery people more than any other tourist in there. It didn't help that I was wearing bright yellow pants, but why would they let you bring your camera if they don't allow you to take pictures? One of the security guards literally followed me around for about 5 minutes watching my every move, but it was so worth it to share it through the lens with everyone back home.
This doesn't capture it though. Il Davide is the most incredible piece of art I have ever seen. Michelangelo started his work on the David in 1500 and completed it in 1504-absolutely amazing. The anatomy of him is just literally perfect. You can see the veins in his hand and oh DIO MIO. It is just a masterpiece.
Oh, and the picture below..my usual commute back home on the Ponte Vecchio during sunset. No big deal.
